founder of Yoga Studio 6 LIC, isn’t happy unless her students are happy. That’s her goal for every student in every class – no matter what their shape, size or experience level -- and her extensive training and encouraging spirit make it happen.
She began life as a dancer, earning an MFA in Dance from NYU. For the next 20 years, she gathered experience in the Health and Fitness Industry and has taught in Medical Centers, schools and wellness spas.
The last fifteen years have been dedicated to her lifelong passion, Yoga. She has trained at the highly-respected Kripalu Institute where she earned certification as a Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapist (600 Hours). Her practice led her to the Iyengar Yoga Institute of New York where she is currently studying with Genny Kapuler.
Alicia blends the best of many traditions in her yoga teaching. Her style has been greatly influenced by her dance background where creativity, flow and music play a big part. Her Pilates training adds a contemporary ingredient to her practice and yoga instruction. Her contagious enthusiasm, warmth, and sense of humor make everyone feel as if they were born to do yoga.
Bert Bustamante, Instructor
Has been practicing Yoga since 2006 and has taught since 2011. Bert began his study of Yoga after many years of chronic back pain from sports related injuries. After attempting different Yoga methods, he found lower back relief and inspiration practicing the Iyengar method.
Bert has been practicing regularly at the Iyengar Yoga Institute of New York since 2007. Seeking to expand his practice and share the benefits of Yoga with others he completed the Iyengar 2011-2013 Teacher Training Program. His primary teachers are Genny Kapuler, Carrie Owerko and James Murphy.
He uses his 30 years of technical experience in Aviation to enhance his understanding of Asana practice and share it with his students. His instructions are Safe, Simple, Encouraging proper body alignment but demanding Concentration and Focus.
